The ACR Resident and Fellows Section has been closely monitoring the
developing situation regarding the NRMP Radiology Fellowship Match on your
behalf. The Match as we know it is now over. Beginning with the CURRENT
application cycle for positions starting in 2007, the Match will NO LONGER be
used except in Neuroradiology, Pediatrics, and IR. The letter below was just
sent out to all Program Directors and Chairmen from the Society of Chairmen of
Academic Radiology Departments (SCARD) detailing the changes.
What does this mean?
- If you are applying in a subspecialty that is no longer participating in the
Match, we recommend that you contact programs and send out applications SOON.
Many programs will be altering their interview schedules so that interviews
will take place in the Winter rather than Spring.
- If you are applying in Neuroradiology, Pediatrics, or IR, look for updated
Match information on the SCARD (www.scardonline.org) and NRMP (www.nrmp.org)
websites in the near future.
- Please share this information with colleagues in your program
- CHECK FOR THE LATEST UPDATES ON THE NEW ACR RFS WEBSITE: RFS.ACR.ORG

LETTER SENT TO ALL MEMBERS OF APDR AND SCARD
Dear Colleague,
Recently, all SCARD members were surveyed to determine their commitment to
supporting the Radiology Fellowship Match. While institutionally SCARD is
very supportive of maintaining the match, we unfortunately were not able to
muster the requisite number of affirmations to continue the Radiology
Fellowship Match as we know it. However, our intended goal remains to
eventually have full participation in the fellowship match by all radiology
programs in the future.
Currently, the fellowship program directors representing the subspecialties
of Vascular/Interventional Radiology, Neuroradiology and Pediatric
Radiology have committed to fully support the match. Therefore, SCARD will
continue to administer the match for ONLY these three types of programs.
All other fellowship programs may accept applications, interview and make
offers whenever they would like.
In the next few days, updated information will be posted on the NRMP and
SCARD web sites so that programs in the three subspecialties listed above
can prepare to participate in the match.
Sincerely,
