ACR Staff
(The meeting was convened at 12:00pm CST.)
ACR RFS Reception at RSNA
The EC reviewed the plan of action for the reception, to include showing
the RFS Web site jump drive presentation and the RFS testimonial DVD.
All members of the EC agreed to continue to spread the word about the
reception and pass out postcards advertising the reception.
Web site Update
Participants agreed that they are pleased with the work that has been
done to develop the new RFS Web site and that there is a good framework
in place. Keeping the Web site current will be an ongoing process and in
order to update the site the committee would like to create a position
for someone to serve as a Communications Officer. This individual would
work in conjunction with the RFS Secretary. Dan Entrikin agreed to take
on this role for the time being and will work with ACR staff to have
items added to the site. It remains to be determined whether this will
be an elected or appointed position in the future. This will be
discussed and finalized prior to the 2006 AMCLC when a new
Communications Officer will assume the position.
Action Item:
Send any concerns or suggestions for the Web site to Dan
Entrikin so that he can share them with ACR staff (Jose Cayere and Loura
Gipson).
Action Item:
Further develop the expectations for the communications
director/manager position.
Career Resources Section
The committee discussed what the content of this section should include.
The committee would like to see various resources on the site, to
include information on interviewing, contracting, malpractice insurance,
etc.
Action Item:
Send any topics or resources that you may have to Dan Entrikin.
Hot Topics
Dan Entrikin will initially take the lead in posting the hot topic
articles on the Web site. New hot topics will be cycled onto the site
approximately every 2 months. The RFS has received blanket permission
from Elsevier to reprint articles from the JACR on the RFS Web site.
MRI Project Update
Action Item:
Email suggestions or recommendations for Hot Topics to Dan Entrikin.
Gregg M. and Amy provided an update on the MRI Teaching File project.
The project has received a firm financial commitment from the ACR, but there is not yet a defined budget for this project.
Reimbursement for Submitting Cases:
$80/case
IPOD Video/3 cases
Recruitment for the 2006 AMCLC
Editors:
There will be a managing editor for this project, as well as section
editors and assistant section editors. Some of the individuals who will
fill these positions have been identified, and the committee discussed
possibilities for those positions that are still vacant.
The committee discussed various ways to recruit residents to attend the AMCLC. Potential ideas include:
- Recruiting residents already attending AFIP (Trina will follow up with other ACR staff to get information on the residents that will be attending AFIP close to/during the AMCLC)
- Letter to chapters (a letter and information was sent to chapter leaders in early November)
- Letter to program directors and chairs – the EC would like Dr. Blumberg and possibly the chapter presidents to sign these letters
ACR Bulletin
The January issue of the ACR Bulletin will feature the RFS. Included in
the issue will be an article on the RFS Web site, highlights from the
RFS Reception at RSNA, interviews with residents and information on
services available to residents and fellows. The EC agreed that this
will be good visibility for the RFS.
Updates:
Membership Committee (Dan)
The committee is interested in identifying ways that the ACR days at AFIP can be improved.
Action Item: Submit any suggestions to Dan Entrikin and he will forward them to the appropriate ACR staff in Education.
AMA Issues (Geoff)
A3CR2 (Maryellen)
The committee agreed that it makes sense to have a chief resident survey
completed prior to the spring meeting. Maryellen has identified a topic
for the survey (overnight attending coverage) and will work with Trina
to get the survey put together and disseminated.
Positions within the RFS and Elections
CAR Representative (Sanjay)
Christopher Cook from the University of Virginia attended the CAR
meeting this fall to represent the ACR and RFS. Sanjay recommended
working through Chris and Richard Bitar, a resident from Canada that
attended the 2005 AMCL, to solicit programs in Canada to send residents
to the 2006 AMCLC.
The committee began discussions on newly created positions and other
positions that may develop in the coming months. There is more
discussion to be had regarding whether new positions will be appointed
or elected, how to solicit interested individuals. It was agreed that
expectations and responsibilities for positions should be developed.
This is a project that will be worked on in advance of the AMCLC.
The RFS now has a representative on the RADPAC board, this position is
currently held by Sean Higginson. The committee would like to consider
having a RADPAC alternate.
Next Meeting
Currently the RFS EC has a representative to the AMA and the committee would like to consider having an AMA alternate.
The next meeting of the committee will take place via conference call.
Adjournment
There being no further business to discuss the meeting was adjourned.
