MR Training Requirements
Dr. Martin provided an overview of her role as the resident representative to the ACGME Residency Review Committee (RRC) for diagnostic radiology. The committee agreed to establishing the RRC resident representative as a liaison to the executive committee.

Dr. Martin then discussed the issue of MR training requirements as it has been discussed to date by the RRC. The issue did come up at the RRC meeting in Oct. 2001, but was not a discussion topic placed on the agenda. Dr. Martin successfully arranged a time slot for the topic at the next RRC meeting, which takes place 6-8 Oct. 2002.

The committee discussed the survey data collected at the 2001 RPS meeting regarding MR training. Dr. Martin commented the responses to some of the questions were too broad. She suggested revising the questions in order to get a more focused response. She agreed to provide some suggested questions for an additional survey. Kelly will have the ACR research department assist in reviewing future survey questions. A new survey will be distributed at the 2002 RPS meeting and to members of A3CR2. The intent is to have analyzed data available for the Oct. meeting of the RRC.

2002 ACR Council Meeting Resolutions
The committee agreed to divide the responsibility of reviewing each of the 45 resolutions in order to determine which will be of most interest and importance to the 2002 RPS. Members agreed to provide their comments to Kelly by 13 Aug. 2002.

2002 RPS Annual Meeting
Kelly provided an update on participants for the meeting. The chapters have sponsored 63 participants. However, to date only 46 have registered.

Dr. Vydareny is confirmed as the speaker for the lunch on Sat., 28 Sept. She will provide an overview of the ACR.

Participants for the lunch on Sun., 29 Sept. have been invited.

Content of 2nd Mailing to 2002 RPS Participants

The committee discussed the content of the 2nd mailing to the 2002 RPS meeting participants. Included will be:
  • explanation of the ACR Council meeting and the RPS' involvement
  • list and information regarding the resolutions pertinent to the RPS
  • RPS executive committee position descriptions and election information
  • meeting schedule
  • reminder about reimbursement policy
This information will go out via hard copy and electronically the first week of Sept. 2002.

There was discussion regarding the descriptions of the RPS executive committee positions. Dr. Wald suggested assigning the planning of the RPS annual meeting to the committee chair. As the vice-chair matriculates to become chair, this would assure someone with experience in the organization would have the responsibility of planning the meeting. The committee agreed to assigning the committee chair the responsibility of planning the meeting. This would begin the 2002-2003 RPS executive committee.

Adjournment
Given the late hour, the meeting adjourned. The committee will address the issues of the 2003 Jan. issue of the ACR Bulletin and the look and content of the resident section of the ACR Web site at the next meeting.

Next Meeting
The next meeting will be on Sat., 29 Sept. 2002 at the Loews Miami Beach Hotel in Miami, Fla. from 7:30am-8:30am.

Douglas E. Lemley, M.D.
Chair, ACR Resident Physician Section Executive Committee
