Introduction
Dr. Wald convened the meeting at 9:35 p.m.

MRI Training Survey
The committee discussed the plan for communicating the general findings of the data collected from the MRI training survey to the ACGME Residency Review Committee for diagnostic radiology. This committee will meet 20-22 Feb. As Dr. Hetts, the resident representative to the ACGME RRC, was unable to attend the conference call. Dr. Davila will contact him prior to the RRC meeting to discuss the data. If it turns out Dr. Hetts will not be able to communicate this information during the RRC meeting, the committee plans to contact Kay H. Vydareny, M.D. instead.

It is the intent of this committee to publish the data collected from the survey. For this reason the committee asked how it would be possible to keep the information shared with the RRC confidential. Kelly will consult with the ACR research and legal departments on this issue. In the meantime, the committee agreed not to distribute the information electronically and not to allow others, noncommittee members, to keep hard copies.

The committee discussed venues for publishing the data. The committee agreed to first consider the journal Radiology.

2003 Leadership Development Seminar Speaker
Dr. Wald spoke with Richard B. Gunderman, M.D., Ph.D. last month to explore the possibility of having him lead this year''s leadership development seminar. Dr. Gunderman is a practicing radiologist with an interest in leadership. They discussed the seminar being similar in format to last year''s with the added advantage of bringing more resident-related real world scenarios into the conversation. Dr. Wald emphasized it will be important for the members of this committee to help facilitate conversations during the seminar. Kelly distributed a collection of articles penned by Dr. Gunderman for the committee''s review.

The committee would like to meet with Dr. Gunderman on Sat., May 10 in the evening to prepare for the next day's seminar.

RPS Presentation to the ACR Council
The RPS will have an opportunity during this year''s ACR council meeting to make a 10-minute presentation before the council. This presentation has not yet been formally scheduled, but a time will be identified closer to the meeting. The committee discussed the potential content of this presentation. Ideas included:
  • Thank you for including residents and fellows in this meeting and providing opportunities to participate.
  • Functions of the RPS leader development, exposure to organized medicine, etc.
  • An overview of the activities of the RPS during the meeting and during the year.
  • An overview of issues important to the RPS.
Resident Participation on Reference Committees
R. Terrell Frey, M.D., speaker of the ACR Council, has asked the committee to designate three residents to participate in the reference committees for the 2003 council meeting. The committee discussed how to identify interested people. The committee agreed to look outside of their group, acknowledging the importance of giving more people the opportunity to get involved. Kelly will review the list of participants from the 2002 RPS meeting who indicated they would like to serve on committees. She will contact these people to see if they plan on attending this year''s meeting. If this does not garner three volunteers, the committee agreed to contact all 2002 RPS participants.

RPS Communiqué
Dr. Lozano will put together a brief newsletter outlining the activities of the RPS since the 2002 annual meeting for distribution to participants from that meeting. She will distribute a draft to the committee for review.

Residents' Notes
Kelly asked the committee to consider and forward to her any ideas for content for the Residents'' Notes section of the ACR Bulletin.

Next Meeting
The committee would like to meet next in March via conference call.

Adjournment
There being no further business, Dr. Wald adjourned the meeting.
