2008 AMCLC is Right Around the Corner
The Resident and Fellow Section (RFS) will meet again this year in
Washington, D.C., along with the ACR leadership during the ACR's Annual
Meeting and Chapter Leadership Conference (AMCLC). The AMCLC is viewed
favorably by resident representatives from across the United States and
Canada as a time to rejuvenate interest in the organizational side of
radiology. The RFS meeting provides attendees with an opportunity to
discuss hot topics affecting the field of radiology and current training
issues.
All residents and fellows are welcome. Please mark your calendar and
plan to attend May 17-22, 2008.
The meeting registration and hotel reservation deadline is April 18.
Visit www.acr.org/amclc08 for more information.
Unveil the "Face of Radiology"
This spring the ACR will launch the "Face of Radiology" campaign to
educate patients, payers, government officials, and other health care
providers on exactly what radiologists do and why their education,
training, skills, and experience are vital to providing the highest
quality patient care.
This comprehensive effort will utilize grassroots efforts, advertising,
public relations, patient education materials, and social media to
deliver and reinforce the message to patients that "your radiologist is
the physician expert in diagnosis, patient care, and treatment through
medical imaging."
It is imperative that all radiology residents and fellows be aware of
this initiative and its importance to the future of radiology. Stay
tuned for future calls to action so that you may respond and help to
maintain the vitality of our profession.
Deadline Extended to Apply for the Moorefield Fellowship
Applications for the James M. Moorefield, M.D., Economics and Health
Policy Fellowship will be accepted from third-year and fourth-year
residents and fellows through May 1, 2008. Three fellowships are offered
each year for a 2-week program designed to better inform residents about
reimbursement and medical policy issues, including development of new
CPT codes, the valuation process, national and local Medical coverage of
radiology and radiation oncology procedures, and coverage by third-party
payers and managed care organizations.
